Vision Self-Test
Medical Disclaimer
If you have any eye problems including but not limited to, redness, blurred vision, discomfort, pain, change in vision, then you should see your eye care professional, or a hospital emergency room immediately.
This vision test can only be considered a screening test. A variety of factors such as lighting, glare, monitor quality may have an effect on the results of this test. For best results, make sure to visit one of our locations to speak with one of our specialists to perform a comprehensive eye exam.
Each part of the comprehensive eye exam provides important information about the health of your eyes. Make sure that you get a complete eye exam as part of your care for your overall health. The information presented in this web site is not intended to diagnose any health/medical problems. Have your eyes examined regularly and always follow your eye care professional’s instructions.
Take Your Vision Self-Test
Test can be performed with or without glasses.
In order for the test to be performed correctly, allow the following distance between subject and screen:
- • 7 feet from a 20” screen
- • 5 feet from a 17” screen
- • 3 feet from a 12” screen
- • 2 feet from a 13” screen
Cover left eye with your left hand, ensure to avoid applying pressure to the eyelid. Read the letters on the screen beginning at the top. Once completed, repeat with the right eye.
If you were able to read as easily with both the left and right eye, chances are you have a strong central visual acuity. If you are unable to read all the lines, you definitely have vision problems. A comprehensive exam, performed by an optometrist is required.
The tests that we propose do not have a medical value and we remind you that only your optometrist can give a proper diagnostic.
